Abstract

The prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) infection in the world is still high, especially in areas with poor sanitation. This condition is often found in restaurants and is one of the favorite places for flies. Flies are insects that have the ability to fly far and live nomadic habits so that they can interfere with human health, namely as mechanical vectors of various diseases, one of which is STH infection. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the presence or absence of soil-transmitted helminth eggs and intestinal protozoa in Musca domestica in the Pedan Restaurant, Klaten Regency. This study used a descriptive research design using the Indirect faecal deposition method. The research data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques which are presented in the table. The results showed that from 59 Musca domestica identified in 12 tubes with 11 tubes containing 5 Musca domestica and 1 tube containing 4 Musca domestica in the 9th tube, Trichuris trichiura eggs were found in one of the tubes, namely the 11th tube and no intestinal protozoa were found. tested positive for Trichuris trichiura eggs in the samples studied.
