Abstract

Cutlery is all kinds of tools used to process and serve food such as plates, spoons, forks and glasses. This study aims to determine the presence of Escherichia coli on plates and spoons used in food stalls around Madegondo village, Grogol, Sukoharjo. Escherichia coli is a group of bacteria that is used as an indicator of sewage pollution and unsanitary conditions for water, food, milk, and other dairy products. This study aims to determine the presence or absence of Escherichia coli bacteria on cutlery used in food stalls. The type of research used in this scientific paper is descriptive research. This research was conducted at the Bacteriology Laboratory of the National School of Health Sciences and the time of the research was carried out on April 11 - April 18, 2022. The sample of this study was swabs of cutlery in several food stalls in Madegondo Village, Grogol, Sukoharjo. The sampling technique is quota sampling. Based on the examination at the National STIKES Bacteriology Laboratory, of the 18 samples examined, Escherichia coli was not found but found other bacteria belonging to the Bacillus sp, Klebsiella pneumonia, Serattia marcescens, and Enterobacter aerogenes groups. Based on the research conducted, by identifying Escherichia coli bacteria using Biochemical Test. The conclusion from this study was that Escherichia coli was not found
