Abstract

Hemoglobin is a protein substance found in red blood cells (erythrocytes) which will give blood its red color and also act as the main oxygen carrier in the body. Hemoglobin is a blood biochemical measurement that, is usually used to determine conditions of iron deficiency or anemia. The prevalence of nutritional anemia in Indonesia is 21.7% with a proportion of 20.6% in urban areas and 22.8% in rural areas and 18.4% for men and 23.9% for women. Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple measuring tool for monitoring nutritional status. The worse the nutritional status of a person, the lower the person's hemoglobin level. This study aims to determine the relationship between body mass index and hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls. This research used literature study method. Data collection in this study used secondary data taken from journals or papers or theses that have been conducted. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis. The results of the research on the relationship between body mass index and hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls showed an average value of p <0.05. Conclusion: There is a relationship between body mass index and hemoglobin levels in young women.
