Abstract

The lecture activities at Diponegoro University in Tembalang resulted in a rapid increase in population density in the Tembalang region and resulted in an increase in waste generated. This condition affects the pollution of well water as clean water. Most residents around Diponegoro University still use well water to meet their daily needs, so there is a possibility that water in this area is polluted. This study aims to determine the quality of water as raw drinking water, well water testing is carried out using the petrifilm method. This type of research is a literature study, this study uses secondary data collection taken from previous research scientific journals. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis method. Collaboration from 3 reference journals of total coliforms of well water around Diponegoro University showed that 100% of well water samples were polluted by coliform bacteria with the number of bacteria exceeding the quality standards set by the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation Number 32 / Menkes / Per / 2017, so it can be concluded that well water is not suitable for use as raw drinking water. Some factors that are thought to influence the high number of coliform bacteria include the distance of the septic tank with the well, livestock waste and the dense population.
