Abstract
Pneumonia is an acute infection associated with lung tissue (alveoli) that is wrongly caused by bacteria. K. pneumonia is about 5% of normal individuals and causes a small portion (about 1%) of bacterial pneumonia. Kitolod leaf (Isotoma longiflora) is one of the plants that can be used as an alternative for treatment of pneumonia. Because it contains alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the decoction of leaves of I. longiflora can inhibit the growth of K. pneumoniae. This research uses an experimental descriptive method. The sampling technique used was quota sampling. The sample of this study was variations in the concentration of the leaves of I. longiflora with concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. The positive control used was Ciprofloxacin 5μg and the negative control used a sterile aquadest. Test the inhibition of bacteria using the disk diffusion method. The results of the decoction of the leaves of I. longiflora are able to overcome the growth of K. pneumoniae which support all variations of concentration. Radical zones are formed at each concentration variation with an average diameter of 20% concentration of 6.15 mm; 40% of 6.48 mm; 60% of 6.73 mm; 80% of 7.08 mm; and 100% of 7.48 mm. The conclusions from the study show that every variation of the decoction of the leaves of I. longiflora is able to make a radical zone, but it is not included in the criteria for sensitivity to Ciprofloxacin antibiotics through CLSI 2019.
