Abstract

Determination of nutritional status by calculating BMI as an indicator in assessing obesity. People with obesity will increase the risk of diabetes, in addition to hypertension tend to be more susceptible to coronary heart disease, osteoarthritis and other degenerative diseases. This can occur due to the accumulation of fat in adipose tissue (under the skin) in the form of triglycerides, resulting in narrowing of blood vessels. As humans age, they tend to rarely do exercise, this can affect an increase in a person's Body Mass Index, if individuals rarely exercise, physical activity decreases and will increase the individual's body mass index. Age is one of the risk factors that affect triglyceride levels. With age, the function of the body's organs also decreases. The highest number of elderly is in Grogol District. The purpose of this study was to determine and prove the relationship between BMI and triglyceride levels in members of POSBINDU Kamboja IV in Gedangan, Grogol, Sukoharjo. The research method used is observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. Respondents amounted to 33 people obtained by purposive sampling. The results of measuring triglyceride levels in POSBINDU members obtained referral results as many as 27 people (81.82%) and high limit results as many as 6 people (18.18%). The results of BMI measurements were underweight for 1 person (3.03%), normal weight 17 people (51.51%), mild overweight 6 people (18.18%) and overweight 9 people (27.28%). Statistical test with Spearman Correlation test obtained p value (sig) 0.015 smaller than α value (0.05), it can be concluded that there is a relationship between BMI and triglyceride levels in members of POSBINDU Kamboja IV in Gedangan, Grogol, Sukoharjo.
