Abstract

The toilet door handle is a part of the toilet are often contaminated by bacteria. In the various studies on the toilet door handles of the campus was found contamination of Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. The purpose of this research is to know the presence of Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. on the toilet door handles of several campuses in Nigeria and and which contamination is higher. This research uses a type of research literature study. The data used in this study was taken from related journals about the contamination of Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. on the toilet door handles of several campuses in Nigeria. The Data obtained is analyzed using descriptive analysis. Based on the data obtained, the results of the campus toilet door handle in Nigeria from 85 samples at the Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State-Nigeria acquired the percentage of contamination Escherichia coli (13.9%) and Salmonella sp. (8.7%). At Baze University Campus, Abuja Nigeria of 24 Samples acquired percentage of contamination Escherichia coli (14.3%) and Salmonella sp. (21.4%). While at Adekunle ajasin University Campus, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria from 200 samples acquired percentage of contamination Escherichia coli (21.1%) and Salmonella sp. (10.5%). Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the contaminant bacteria found on the toilet door handles of several campuses in Nigeria are Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. With the percentage of Escherichia coli contamination higher than Salmonella sp.
