Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still one of the main public health problems in Indonesia. The highest group experiencing DHF in Indonesia occurs in children and the highest mortality rate due to DHF is found in the children group. The diagnosis of DHF according to WHO criteria is the presence of thrombocytopenia and an increase in the hematocrit value >20%. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between platelet count and hematocrit value in children with dengue fever at Koja Hospital. This research used an analytical observational method with the cross sectional design. This research was conducted at the Koja Hospital Laboratory in March 2022. The sample in this study was secondary data from the examination of platelet counts and hematocrit values in the Emergency Room (IGD) diagnosed with DHF and primary data results from examination of platelet counts and hematocrit values for 30 patients in the hospital. inpatient. The data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. The results showed that the platelet counts of all patients in the IGD or inpatient room had low platelet counts (100%) or thrombocytopenia, and (13.3%) patients experienced hemoconcentration or high hematocrit values while in the IGD. While, after being hodpitalized, he showed a high hematocrit value or hemoconcentration (20.0%). The conclusion obtained is that there is no relationship between the number of platelets and the hematocrit value in children with dengue hemorrhagic fever at Koja Hospital statistically with a significant value (p) of 0.614 in the Emergency Room (IGD) and 0.139 >α = 0.05 in the hospital inpatient.
