Abstract
Head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) are small parasites that live by sucking blood on the human head. Pediculosis capitis is a scalp infection caused by ectoparasite infestation of Pediculus humanus capitis species. The Purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there was a correlation between personal hygiene and Pediculus humanus capitis infestations found in a foster children at orphanage. This type of research is analytic with cross sectional design . desain sampling technic used is quota sampling. The number of samples is a 30 children orphanage and analyzed using Chi-square. The results showed that poor personal hygiene was 56,7%, the incidence of Pediculosis capitis was 76,7%, there was a correlation between personal hygiene and the incidence of Pediculosis capitis with an Asymp Sig value of 0,001<0,005. The conclusion in this study is that there is a correlation between personal hygiene with Pediculosis capitis.
