Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is the eighth leading cause of death in both sexes and the fifth cause of death in women. Pharmacological therapy is a way to control a patient's blood sugar levels in a controlled manner. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of oral antidiabetic drugs at the Penumping Surakarta Health Center in December 2018. This study was conducted using a nonexperimental design that is descriptive. Data was taken from the medical records of patients with type II diabetes mellitus at the Surakarta Penumping Health Center in December 2018. The results of this study were based on the characteristics of the patients with the most women aged between 55-59 and BMI between 25.0-29.9. Based on the results of diagnosing the most patients without complications. Oral antidiabetic drugs given at the Surakarta Penumping Health Center are glibenklamide, glimepiride 2 mg, metformin, metformin + glibenklamide, and metformin + glimepiride 2 mg. The most common oral antidiabetic drug is metformin. The controlled effectiveness of blood sugar levels when using the fastest single oral antidiabetic drug is metformin, controlling blood sugar levels when under control on the fourth day. Combined oral antidiabetic drugs, metformin with glibenclamide and metformin with glimepiride 2 mg can control blood sugar levels when under control on the fourth day.
